Painted World
Geralt enters a surreal dreamscape manifested inside Iris von Everec's painting during the quest "Scenes From a Marriage". To release her spirit and claim the violet rose for Olgierd, players must explore the distorted manor grounds, defeat hostile specters, and reconstruct missing elements to restore eight key memories of Iris's troubled marriage.

The short version
What matters
- •Courtyard Gazebo: Fully restore this optional first scene with the painter's palette and The Spirit from the Steppe to prevent locking the Curator of Nightmares achievement.
- •When It's Many Against One: Strike all six Ethereal clones of Olgierd in the parlor arena so they engage at the same time before slaying any of them.
- •Final Parlor Dialogue: Choose whether to take the Violet Rose from Iris or leave it behind to obtain the painted portrait of Iris holding the violet rose in the real world.
Common mistakes
- •Walking past the initial Courtyard Gazebo directly toward the manor without reconstructing the scene; this permanently forfeits the Curator of Nightmares achievement.
- •Defeating an Ethereal clone in the parlor before provoking the remaining resting clones, which permanently locks you out of the When It's Many Against One achievement.
- •Taking the Violet Rose if you wanted the canvas painting, as doing so destroys the Painted World and prevents the painted portrait from being retrieved in the real manor bedroom.

1
Enter the Courtyard and Reconstruct the First Memory
After burying Iris's body at the physical Von Everec Estate, you enter the Painted World through her canvas portal and arrive at the courtyard garden facing the painted manor's front facade. Head forward to the Courtyard Gazebo to find Iris and grab the painter's palette from a bench along with the key book "The Spirit from the Steppe" from a small round table. Put the palette on the table beside Iris and place the book or spirit mug into Olgierd's hand to reconstruct this optional first memory. You can manually save, auto-save, or meditate here, but you will find no merchants, traders, or service vendors anywhere in this realm.
Tip: Remember you can meditate or manually save your game if you need to recover or secure your progress.
Watch out: Skipping the Courtyard Gazebo memory locks you out of the Curator of Nightmares achievement for the rest of your playthrough.

2
Restore the Garden Fountain Memory
Prepare to be ambushed by spectral bees or spiders immediately after finishing the outdoor gazebo reconstruction. Proceed across the garden toward the fountain to locate the second memory scene involving Iris. Pick up the teapot key item from the table near the fountain and use it to complete the reconstruction.
-
3
Reconstruct the Front Entrance Dinner Memory
Walk up to the front entrance of the painted manor and enter inside. Approach the first dining table to discover the third memory with Iris. Place the required missing pieces to successfully restore the scene before moving further into the house.
-
4
Clear the Bedchamber and Painting Studio
Head upstairs into the master bedroom to reconstruct the fourth memory of Iris's past. Next, push into the painting studio and upstairs hallway where you must battle hostile spectral spiders (Arachnomorphs). After dispatching the spiders, reconstruct the fifth memory located inside the art studio.
-
5
Escape Olgierd's Study to the Estate Cellar
Move into Olgierd's study to reconstruct the sixth memory. A sudden blizzard and frozen void event will trigger around you, forcing you to run and flee through a painting portal directly down into the estate's cellar. Once safely inside the cellar, reconstruct the seventh memory.
-
6
Restore the Ground Floor Dining Room Memory
Return upstairs to the ground floor dining room to find Iris and reconstruct the eighth memory. Restoring this final memory, provided you also completed the optional gazebo scene, satisfies the requirement for all eight memories. Prepare your gear thoroughly before stepping forward into the adjacent chamber.

Face Iris' Greatest Fear and Decide Her Fate
Enter the parlor to encounter Iris' Greatest Fear, consisting of six Ethereal clones of Olgierd in the arena. If you want the achievement, strike and provoke all six spectral clones so they attack simultaneously before killing any of them, then defeat all six together; otherwise, fight them as they activate. Once defeated, the boss dissolves directly into a cutscene without leaving a corpse to loot, bringing you to a final dialogue with Iris von Everec where you must decide whether to claim the Violet Rose or leave it with her.
Key fight: Iris' Greatest FearTip: To earn the When It's Many Against One achievement, ensure all six clones are actively hostile at once before slaying any single one.
Watch out: Choosing to take the Violet Rose permanently misses the painted portrait of Iris holding the violet rose in the real world, while leaving the rose permanently misses the Violet Rose itself.

Fate of the Violet Rose
During the final dialogue with Iris von Everec in the parlor after defeating Iris' Greatest Fear
- Take the rose→ You receive the physical Violet Rose, but the Painted World is destroyed and the painted portrait of Iris holding the rose cannot be obtained
- Leave the rose with Iris→ Iris keeps the rose, allowing Geralt to later retrieve a painted portrait of Iris holding the violet rose from the real manor bedroom instead
Permanently decides whether you obtain the physical Violet Rose or the painted portrait of Iris

Enemies: Six Ethereals (spectral manifestations taking the shape of Olgierd von Everec)
Threats: High physical and slashing damage, rapid sword strike flurries, teleportation followed by shadow-dash lunges with red energy-infused blades, and black fluid spit that blinds and slows Geralt; each subsequent clone gains faster attacks and higher damage output
Tactics: Fight in the parlor room; face the active Ethereal one-on-one while positioning away from dormant clones, avoid wide area-of-effect abilities (such as Igni or Aard) that awaken inactive figures simultaneously, and use well-timed parries/counterattacks against their heavy lunges to break guard and punish
Enemies
spectral spider manifestations that ambush Geralt after restoring memories in the courtyard
six spectral clones of Olgierd von Everec encountered in the final memory; defeating all six while they are provoked simultaneously grants the "When It's Many Against One…" achievement
Tips
- During the Iris' Greatest Fear encounter, fight each nightmare one by one by keeping your distance, and avoid wide-area Signs like Igni or Aard to prevent accidentally waking the dormant clones all at once.
