Borsodi Auction House
Geralt enters the Borsodi Auction House alongside Vimme Vivaldi to track down Maximilian Borsodi's house for Olgierd von Everec. Before the auction commences, players can mingle on the second floor to socialize, browse rare goods, play Gwent, or complete minor tasks for attendees. Once the bidding concludes and Horst Borsodi angrily ejects Geralt, a confrontation outside triggers the next phase of planning an armed heist.

The short version
What matters
- •Buying all four Viper School armor diagrams from Countess Mignole on the balcony before the bidding starts.
- •Winning every auction lot (the Romilly Figurine, the Van Rogh painting, and the Professor's Spectacles) to unlock the "Shopaholic" achievement.
- •Looting the Diagram: Viper Venomous Steel Sword and the Ofieri Crossbow from the vault chests during the heist.
Common mistakes
- •Starting the auction before speaking with Countess Mignole, which permanently loses the Viper School gear diagrams when she departs.
- •Skipping bids or running out of crowns during the auction, permanently forfeiting the three lots and locking out the "Shopaholic" achievement.
- •Expecting to win the Gaunter O'Dimm (Darkness) card from Robert Hilbert, who only awards the standalone neutral "Gaunter O'Dimm" card.

The area in the order you play it. Tick things off as you go: they tick off in the checklists below too.
-
1
Meeting Vivaldi Outside
Head to northern Oxenfurt during "Open Sesame!" where you will find guards blocking the entrance to Borsodi Auction House. Speak with Vimme Vivaldi out front so he can intercede with the guards and accompany you inside.
Tip: Vivaldi escorts you past the front threshold straight toward the upper floor.
-
2
Mingling on the Upper Floor
Ascend the stairs to the second-floor auction hall where you can mingle with guests before the auction begins. Talk to Countess Mignole near the balcony to purchase crafting items along with the Viper School armor diagrams (boots, chest, gauntlets, and trousers), and note the disguised Stranger on the stairway. You can also converse with Yaromir as he inspects paintings, or play Gwent against Robert Hilbert to win the standalone "Gaunter O'Dimm" card.
Tip: The area lacks any blacksmiths or permanent shops, so complete all your trading with Countess Mignole right away.
Watch out: Countess Mignole leaves permanently once the bidding begins, forever locking you out of the Viper School armor diagrams.
-
3
The Live Auction
Take your seat in the main auction hall to participate in the live bidding event hosted by the auctioneer. Win the first lot for 300 crowns to claim the Romilly Family Figurine (Brass Eagle), submit the winning bid on the second lot to secure the "Starry Night Over the Pontar" painting, and win the third lot for 350 crowns to obtain the Professor's Spectacles.
Tip: Winning every single lot is required to secure the missable "Shopaholic" achievement.
Watch out: If you opt out of bidding, fail to enter a bid in time, or let another attendee outbid you on any lot, those items and the "Shopaholic" achievement are permanently lost.

Ejection and Alley Brawl
Meet Horst Borsodi on the podium during the intermission, where a hostile conversation ends with him throwing you out of the building. Once outside the entrance, you are immediately forced into an unarmed fistfight against two auction house guards. Knock both bouncers out to end the confrontation; they will drop nothing upon defeat.
Tip: You only need your bare fists to incapacitate these two guards outside.
-
5
Planning and Infiltrating the Vault
Regroup to plan the heist, recruiting your crew before returning to infiltrate the dungeon vault beneath the auction house. Break inside through the attic, ground floor, and second floor alongside your chosen safecracker (Quinto or Casimir Bassi) and Eveline Gallo, fighting past Horst Borsodi's armed guards or Redanian soldiers on the ground floor. In the subterranean vault, defeat either Horst Borsodi and his guards or Ewald Borsodi to claim the vault key, coins, standard weapons, and the quest item Maximilian Borsodi's House from the central pedestal.
Tip: If Quinto picks the lock and triggers the floor trap, you must eliminate the Arachnomorphs in the basement pit below.
Watch out: Don't leave the treasure vault without grabbing the Diagram: Viper Venomous Steel Sword from the chest next to Borsodi's house pedestal and the Ofieri Crossbow beside the leftmost pillar.
