Walkthrough

The area in the order you play it. Tick things off as you go: they tick off in the checklists below too.

  1. 1

    Arriving in Lindenvale

Follow the road into east-central Velen until you discover Lindenvale, which triggers the Lindenvale Signpost for quick travel and nearby saves. Check the central Village Square where an outdoor merchant runs a stall, and read the Notice Board to pick up "Contract: The Merry Widow" along with other quest postings.

Tip: Use the signpost to record a quick manual save before committing to the village's contracts.

  2. 2

    Meeting Dolores Reardon

In the center of the village near the notice board and tavern exterior, speak to the weeping elderly woman named Dolores Reardon. She asks for aid to start the secondary quest "The Fall of the House of Reardon" and provides you with Dolores's manor key.

Watch out: Be aware that the associated quest involving Letho can be permanently locked out if you chose to kill him in your Witcher 2 background choices.

  3. 3

Touring the Village Crafters and Tavern

Head to the northwest corner of the settlement to visit the amateur blacksmith, who sells the Scavenger Hunt: Cat School Gear maps alongside standard services. Afterward, step into the local tavern to buy refreshments from the innkeeper or sit down to play Gwent.

Tip: Purchase the Cat School diagrams from the blacksmith right away so you can track the gear upgrades early.

  4. 4

    Settling Village Business

Before leaving the square, challenge the local brawler Fishgulper in the village to advance the fighting tournament quest "Fists of Fury: Velen". You will also find the local Gravedigger on post within the village to negotiate "Contract: The Merry Widow", while the nearby Ealdorman waits near the notice board to later offer "Witcher Wannabe".

  5. 5

    Confronting Mourntart at the Graveyard

Head directly east from Lindenvale up the hill to reach the fenced Lindenvale Cemetery. Here, take on the grave hag Mourntart to fulfill the contract for the local gravedigger.

  6. 6

    Dealing with the Cemetery Charlatan

Return to Lindenvale Cemetery after finishing the grave hag contract to pursue the quest "Witcher Wannabe". Search behind a grave to discover the charlatan hiding away in fear of ghouls.

  7. 7

Slaying Howler in the Southern Cave

Head to the cave situated just south of the village to track the target of the contract "Mysterious Tracks". Defeat the chort boss Howler to loot a Chort Trophy, Chort Mutagen, Chort Hide, and the relic silver sword Azure Wrath.
