The White House Plaza

Fallout 3: Game of the Year Edition guide · Exploring the ruins of the capital
← All areas in this guide

The White House Plaza consists of the completely obliterated ground zero of the executive mansion, which has been reduced to a deep, highly irradiated crater surrounded by chain-link fences. It is connected via an underground utility door to the Pennsylvania Avenue utility tunnel, which serves as the primary route to enter the blast zone. Exploring the area requires dealing with strong ambient radiation and surviving the powerful enemies that patrol the perimeter of the ruins.

Enemies

Glowing One

Found roaming directly in or around the irradiated crater, healing from ambient rads.

Weak to Head

Dangerous high-level ghoul variant introduced in Broken Steel that frequently spawns near the perimeter.

Super Mutant Brute
Weak to HeadSteal / drop Assault Rifle or Hunting Rifle

Often found patrolling the streets and trenches leading up to the plaza fences.

Tips

  • Bring an Advanced Radiation Suit or Power Armor along with plenty of RadAway and Rad-X, as the center of the plaza emits severe rads per second.
  • The White House cannot be accessed directly from street level; you must navigate through the utility tunnels located off Pennsylvania Avenue to reach the enclosed plaza.
