Fallout 3: Game of the Year Edition guide · Starting the Operation: Anchorage DLC
← All areas in this guide

The Anchorage War Memorial is a landmark situated on the Potomac River, primarily serving as the location for the quest "The Wasteland Survival Guide" when researching mirelurks. The memorial interior is heavily infested with mirelurks and contains their nesting grounds. Note that despite its name, the *Operation: Anchorage* DLC does not start here; the DLC begins near the Bailey's Crossroads Metro via the Brotherhood Outcast radio signal.

Enemies

Mirelurk
Weak to Face/HeadSteal / drop Mirelurk Meat

Their shells deflect most kinetic attacks, making the unarmored head and face their main vulnerability.

Mirelurk Hunter
Weak to Face/HeadSteal / drop Mirelurk Meat

Stronger variant that spits damaging projectiles and charges aggressively.

Mirelurk King
Weak to HeadSteal / drop Softshell Mirelurk Meat

Uses a ranged sonic blast attack and does not possess the heavy shell of regular mirelurks.

Tips

  • If completing the optional objective for Moira Brown's research quest, do not kill any mirelurks inside the memorial; use a Stealth Boy to slip into the lower nesting areas undetected.
  • The memorial can be accessed through multiple entrances, including a partially submerged service door located on the river side at water level.
