Fallout 3: Game of the Year Edition guide · Retrieving books for the Brotherhood
← All areas in this guide

Arlington Library is a ruined pre-War building heavily occupied by Raiders and Super Mutants, while the Brotherhood of Steel maintains a secure outpost in the lobby. Scribe Yearling hires the Lone Wanderer to retrieve intact pre-War books from the archives and across the Capital Wasteland, while Moira Brown also sends you here to retrieve the library's card catalog for the Wasteland Survival Guide quest. Clearing the library involves fighting through the media archive and children's wing to access the main automated archive terminals.

Shops and people

  • Scribe Yearling: Buys undamaged Pre-War Books for 100 caps and 5 XP each

Tips

  • Let the Brotherhood of Steel paladins in the lobby take the lead in initial firefights to conserve your ammo and health.
  • Do not sell or discard undamaged Pre-War Books to regular merchants, as Scribe Yearling pays significantly more for them.
  • You can access the main card catalog terminal in the media room to download library records to complete Moira Brown's research task without clearing every single room.
