New Londo Ruins

DARK SOULS™: REMASTERED guide · Accessed via the elevator from Firelink Shrine

New Londo Ruins is a flooded subterranean city inhabited by spectral ghosts and ancient dark warriors beneath Firelink Shrine. Players must traverse the ruins to find Ingward, obtain the Key to the Seal, and drain the floodgates to access the lower ruins and the Abyss. Defeating the Four Kings within the Abyss is mandatory to offer their Lord Soul to the Lordvessel.

Enchanted WeaponAscend a +5 magic weapon into an enchanted weapon using the Enchanted Ember and Blue Titanite Chunks, then upgrade it to +5 with Rickert of Vinheim using a Blue Titanite Slab.

Magic WeaponAscend a +5 standard weapon into a magic weapon using Green Titanite Shards, then reinforce it to +10 with Rickert of Vinheim using the Large Magic Ember and a Blue Titanite Slab.

Mass of Souls

Huge amorphous blobs in the drained city that spit sludge and produce explosive heads

Four Kings

Weak to Fire, LightningSteal / drop Bequeathed Lord Soul Shard, Soul of the Four Kings

Boss encounter located in the Abyss; requires wearing the Covenant of Artorias ring to survive the fall into their arena

Shops and people

Ingward: Removes curse status, sells Transient Curses, and cures curse buildup in exchange for souls
Rickert of Vinheim: Upgrades standard weapons to Magic and Enchanted paths; sells basic sorceries and catalyst from behind bars near the entrance elevator

Tips

You must equip the Covenant of Artorias ring obtained from Great Grey Wolf Sif before stepping into the Abyss, or the fall will kill you immediately.
Do not let yourself run out of Transient Curses in the upper ruins, as you cannot block or damage Ghosts without that buff active unless your character is legitimately cursed.
