This expansive forest area connects the Sanctuary Garden to Oolacile Township and the Chasm of the Abyss. Players must navigate past patrolling stone guardians and wild scarecrows to unlock shortcuts and reach the colosseum boss arena. Progressing through the woods also allows the player to find keys and pathways leading to Kalameet's valley and Hawkeye Gough.

The elevator shortcut near Artorias's arena can be unlocked to provide a quick run back to the Sanctuary Garden bonfire.Kalameet can be grounded for a manageable fight by unlocking Hawkeye Gough's tower with the Crest Key and requesting his archery aid.

Attacks with aggressive lunging shears combos; easily staggered by heavy weapons

Weak to Fire damage

Flails forward with a farming plow and can grab players with sudden movements

Tips

Stone Guardians take significant damage from Strike weapons and can be safely lured into single combat.
Do not attempt to fight Black Dragon Kalameet in the valley until Hawkeye Gough shoots him down, as he will otherwise kill you with flying fire breath.
The elevator shortcut next to the bridge drastically cuts down runback times if you die to Knight Artorias.
