DARK SOULS™: REMASTERED guide · The swampy area beneath the Depths

Blighttown is a treacherous, vertical shantytown suspended above a massive, poison-filled swamp at the base of Lordran. Players must navigate rickety scaffolding while dealing with toxic blowdart snipers and fire-breathing threats to reach the bottom. At the swamp's base, you must defeat Chaos Witch Quelaag to ring the second Bell of Awakening.

The Great Hollow entrance is found inside a massive hollowed tree root in the swamp; hitting the chest's back wall reveals a secret room, and hitting that room's back wall reveals the path.

Enemies

Blowdart Sniper

Weak to Fire and physical attacks

They do not respawn once killed and inflict severe toxic status from a distance.

Infested Ghoul

Weak to Fire attacks

Highly aggressive humanoids that can lunge and perform a dangerous grapple attack.

Cragspider

Weak to Physical damage and Lightning

Found mostly around the swamp floor; they spit continuous streams of fire.

Giant Leech

Weak to Fire attacks

Found across the swamp floor; frequently drops Large Titanite Shards and Green Titanite Shards.

Infested Barbarian

Weak to Backstabs and Bleed

Large club-wielding or boulder-throwing giants guarding the entryways to the area.

Shops and people

Shiva of the East: Sells unique East-Asian weaponry like the Uchigatana, Flamberge, and Washing Pole if you are a member of the Forest Hunter covenant

Tips

Equip the Rusted Iron Ring to walk at normal speed through the thick swamp water at the bottom of Blighttown.
Stock up on Blooming Purple Moss Clumps before descending to instantly cure the toxic status inflicted by the Blowdart Snipers.
You can completely bypass the treacherous upper wooden shantytowns by entering Blighttown via the Valley of Drakes using the Master Key.
Defeating the invader Maneater Mildred in human form allows you to summon her as a phantom for the boss fight against Chaos Witch Quelaag.
