The Demon Ruins is a volcanic subterranean zone accessed right after defeating Chaos Witch Quelaag and ringing the second Bell of Awakening. To explore the lower sections safely, you must first defeat the Ceaseless Discharge to cause the massive lava lakes to solidify into hardened crust. Navigating down through minor demon encounters leads directly into boss fights and the transition to the Lost Izalith ruins.

Enemies

Ceaseless Discharge

Weak to Physical damage, especially to limbs

Will fall to its death if lured all the way back to the arena fog entrance after becoming hostile.

Minor Taurus Demon

Weak to Lightning damage

Highly susceptible to ranged baiting to fight them one by one rather than pulling multiple.

Minor Capra Demon

Weak to Fire damage

Unlike their boss counterpart, they roam the ruins without dogs and have lower health pools.

Burrowing Rockworm

Weak to Piercing and Magic attacks

Bursts out from the ground near tunnels; spits corrosive liquid that rapidly degrades equipment durability.

Demonic Statue

Weak to Physical attacks

Small mobile gargoyles that spit continuous flames; best dispatched quickly from behind.

Demon Firesage

Weak to Bleed damage

Essentially a fire-themed Asylum Demon reskin that uses Magic-based explosive AOE shockwaves.

Centipede Demon

Weak to Magic damage

Severing its tail or right arm creates separate writhing appendages that can drop the Orange Charred Ring early.

Tips

Equipping the Rusted Iron Ring does not prevent lava damage, so wait until you acquire the Orange Charred Ring from the Centipede Demon before exploring the deep magma pits.
Wearing high fire resistance armor like the Gold-Hemmed Black Set drastically reduces damage taken from environmental fire hazards and stray lava splash.
