Resident Evil 4 guide · Escaping with Ashley

Following Ashley's rescue from the holding cell in Chapter 14, Leon and Ashley escape through the Island's Waste Disposal facility. To progress, Ashley must hold open a raised bridge via a power wheel while Leon crosses, flips a circuit breaker to restore power, and defends her from incoming zealots and a Regenerador/Iron Maiden. Once the bridge is permanently lowered, they operate a two-person electronic console lock together to open the exit door.

Key fights

Wrecking Ball Control Room Siege

Enemies: Waves of Soldier Ganados (some wielding dynamite, shields, crossbows, or melee weapons)

Threats: Entering through doors and dropping from the ceiling in a tight, multi-level room; throwing dynamite and swarming to overwhelm Leon while Ashley operates the wrecking ball

Weaknesses and resistances: Vulnerable to headshots, flash grenades, environmental hazards, and explosives; prone to standard stun/melee/knife finishers

Tactics: Defend Ashley by holding the catwalk near the console, using Flash/Hand Grenades to clear crowds around her, picking off dynamite throwers early to trigger chain explosions, and keeping Ashley uninterrupted so she can swing the wrecking ball three times to smash through the reinforced wall

Rewards: Safe passage through the shattered wall, ammo and item drops from slain Ganados

Weak to Head

Armed with shields, stun rods, and crossbows; several will spawn targeting Ashley while she holds the bridge wheel.

Iron Maiden

Weak to Parasites (Plagas) exposed via Thermal Scope

Spawns from the waste water after you flip the power switch and releases lethal spikes when dying.

Shops and people

The Merchant: Sells weapons, tune-ups, first aid sprays, and trades Spinels for special gear

Tips

Equip a rifle with the Biosensor Scope before flipping the power switch to quickly destroy the Iron Maiden's internal Plagas before it closes distance.
Watch Ashley's capture meter while on the opposite side of the bridge, and use a sniper rifle to pick off Ganados running toward her platform.
