  • Chapter 4: Entering the Church after obtaining the key: Lake exploration, Lakeside Settlement (Chapter 3), Quarry, Fish Farm, and Farm side quests and treasures become unavailable.
  • Chapter 5: Crossing the bridge to the extraction point at the end of the chapter: Village Square, Farm, Valley, and Abandoned Factory areas become inaccessible.
  • Chapter 6: Defeating the boss at the Slaughterhouse and ending the chapter: All Village region areas and requests become permanently locked for the rest of the playthrough.
  • Chapter 12: Boarding the clock tower underground boat after defeating Ramón Salazar: All Castle region areas (Audience Chamber, Grand Hall, Armory, Water Hall, Castle Battlements, Courtyard, Throne Room, Clock Tower) become permanently locked.
  • Chapter 16: Interacting with the watercraft after the final boss fight: Island Wharf, Encampment, Specimen Storage, Dissection, Freezer, Waste Disposal, Ruins, and Sanctuary become locked, and the playthrough ends.

Recommended order

  1. Step 1Playthrough 1 on Standard or Assisted

    focus on clearing the story, finding all Clockwork Castellans ("Revolution"), gathering all Village, Castle, and Island treasures ("Burglar" achievements), completing every Merchant Request ("Jack of All Trades"), obtaining all weapons, and completing combat and miscellaneous challenges.

    Don't miss in this step
    • Jack of All Trades: Complete all 19 blue request notes given by the Merchant across the Village, Castle, and Island in a single playthrough.
    • Burglar: Collect every treasure marked on the Castle treasure map during a single playthrough before leaving for the Island.
  2. Step 2Playthrough 2 on New Game+ (Assisted)

    complete a "No Merchant" run ("Silent Stranger") and a "Knife and Handguns Only" run ("Minimalist") while accumulating Pesetas to purchase the Infinite Rocket Launcher.

  3. Step 3Playthrough 3 on New Game+ (Professional)

    equip the Infinite Rocket Launcher, avoid using healing items ("Frugalist"), and finish within 7 hours to unlock Professional S rank and unlock the Chicago Sweeper and Armor accessory for Ashley.

  4. Step 4Playthrough 4 on a Fresh New Game (Hardcore)

    complete the game on Hardcore with an S+ rank (under 5 hours and 30 minutes) using the Armor accessory and Chicago Sweeper to unlock the Chicken Hat.

  5. Step 5Playthrough 5 on a Fresh New Game (Professional)

    complete the game on Professional with an S+ rank (under 5 hours and 30 minutes, 15 saves or fewer) using the Chicken Hat, Armor accessory, and Chicago Sweeper to earn "Peerless Agent" and unlock the Cat Ears.

  6. Step 6

    Clean up any remaining Shooting Gallery challenges ("Real Deadeye") or missed trophies via loaded saves or extra New Game+ runs.
