Resident Evil 4 guide · Fighting the knights

Leon drops into the Armory to retrieve the Lion Head required for the Chimera statue, leaving Ashley safe on the upper balcony. Once the statue piece is taken, animated suits of armor (Armaduras) awaken, and Leon must destroy them all with Ashley's assistance. After the battle, Leon boosts Ashley through an upper gate to lower the drawbridge so they can reunite and leave.

Enemies: Six animated suits of armor (Armaduras) attacking in two consecutive waves of three (first wave wielding massive broadswords, second wave wielding scythe-like halberds)

Threats: Heavy overhead cleaves, leaping slash attacks, Plaga parasites sprouting from helmets that whip and inflict instant decapitation; immune to body damage due to thick steel plate

Weaknesses and resistances: Vulnerable to heavy head damage to pop the helmet, high Plaga vulnerability to Flash Grenades (instant-kill once exposed), vulnerable to high-impact Magnum and Shotgun rounds

Tactics: Funnel each wave around the perimeter of the circular room and use the central pedestal as cover; focus high-damage fire directly on their helmets to force the Plagas out, throw a single Flash Grenade to instantly eliminate all three exposed parasites simultaneously, then repeat the process for the second wave

Rewards: King's Grail, pesetas and ammo dropped by the knights

Hostile suits of armor that must be damaged until the parasite protrudes from the collar, after which exposing it to bright light will destroy it instantly.

Tips

Ashley will throw blue lanterns down at the Armaduras during the fight; lure the knights beneath her or pick up the lanterns to throw them, melting the armor and immediately exposing the parasites.
A single Flash Grenade will instantly kill any Armadura whose Plaga parasite is fully exposed.
Save high-powered rifle rounds or shotgun blasts to stagger the knights and force the Plagas out quickly before using flash effects.
