Phoenix Cave

FINAL FANTASY VI guide · directing two separate parties through the dungeon to reunite with Locke
← All areas in this guide

In the World of Ruin, the party lands the Falcon within a star-shaped mountain range to search for Locke and a rumored artifact. Navigating the cavern requires dividing the roster into two cooperating teams that step on switches to open gates, reposition stepping stones, and drain the lava. Reaching the deepest section reunites the groups with Locke, unlocking the Phoenix magicite along with the treasures he recovered.

Tips

  • Equip Amulets or status-protecting gear to guard against Zombie infliction from the cavern's undead foes.
  • Distribute your strongest fighters, magic users, and healing resources evenly between both parties so neither team gets stranded.
  • Place Mog equipped with the Molulu's Charm in one group to navigate puzzles without triggering random battles for that squad.
  • Leaving one group standing on a save point allows the other group to access the main menu save feature anywhere in the dungeon.
  • Use the swinging hook near the cavern's entrance to return directly to the Falcon airship whenever you need to heal or adjust equipment.
