Trial of the Sword

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild guide · Beginning the trials
← All areas in this guide

Link places the Master Sword back into its pedestal in the Korok Forest to enter a multi-floor gauntlet created by the Monks. You are stripped of all weapons, bows, shields, armor, and food, requiring you to scavenge gear inside each chamber to survive. Defeating every enemy on a floor opens the portal to the next stage, ultimately powering up the Master Sword upon completion.

Tips

  • Consume a 30-minute high-level defense or attack buff food dish right before placing the Master Sword into the pedestal.
  • Use Remote Bombs extensively on early floors to defeat weaker enemies without degrading weapon durability.
  • Crouch and sneak slowly toward fairies in rest floors to catch them without scaring them away.
  • Cook individual bundles of wood one at a time in the rest floor pot to yield Rock-Hard Food for incremental healing.
  • Use the Stasis rune upgraded to Stasis+ to freeze challenging enemies like Wizzrobes and Hinox to guarantee a critical headshot.
