Hyrule Castle (The Upheaval): The final descent

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom guide · The Upheaval
← All areas in this guide

The final descent beneath Hyrule Castle is the path leading to the climax of the game, beginning in the Gloom-infested Chasm below the castle. Link travels deeper through ancient ruins and Gloom's Origin, facing waves of high-tier enemies while his Sage companions are temporarily blocked from helping. The descent terminates at the antechamber to the Demon King's Army and the final confrontation with Ganondorf.

Enemies

Silver Horriblin
Weak to Headshots

Found clinging to the ceilings of the tunnels during the descent.

Gloom Hands
Weak to Fire, Shock, or Bomb Arrows

Spawns in the deep ruins section and can transform into Phantom Ganon upon defeat.

Silver Lynel
Weak to Headshots, parries, flurry rushes

Guards the path deep in the descent and wears heavy armor that must be shattered with blunt attacks.

Silver Moblin
Weak to Headshots

Patrols the Gloom-covered corridors and hits extremely hard.

Tips

  • Cook and carry plenty of meals using Sundelions or Sun Pumpkins to restore Gloom-broken hearts before reaching the bottom.
  • Sages cannot accompany you through the deepest portions of this tunnel until you reach the very end, so be prepared to fight solo.
  • Place a Travel Medallion just before the final point-of-no-return drop if you need to warp out to restock weapons, shields, and Gloom-recovery food.
  • Fusing Ancient Blades to arrows allows you to instantly disintegrate dangerous non-boss enemies like the Silver Lynel if you want to conserve resources.
