Walkthrough May be incomplete

The area in the order you play it. Tick things off as you go: they tick off in the checklists below too.

  1. 1

Entering Deeproot Depths and Scouting the High Roots

You can arrive either by resting in a stone coffin at the base of the waterfall past the Valiant Gargoyle arena in Siofra Aqueduct, or by passing through an illusory wall behind the Frenzied Flame Proscription beneath the Subterranean Shunning-Grounds. Touch the Great Waterfall Crest Site of Grace near the southern waterfall basin, then follow the high roots northwest to enter an ant-infested cave.

  2. 2

Clearing the Sunken Ruins and the Erdtree Avatar

Head west into the sunken ruins where an Erdtree Avatar patrols the waters and broken roots near the cliffs. Defeat this field boss to claim the Staff of the Avatar along with Runes, then search inside the gazebo pavilion situated within the flooded town center to pick up the Map: Deeproot Depths. Before leaving the flooded ruins, look near the Walking Mausoleum to find the Mausoleum Soldier Ashes leaning against a petrified tree stump.

  3. 3

    Defeating Crucible Knight Siluria

Journey toward the northern upper cliffs of Deeproot Depths to locate a hollow Great Tree stump guarded by Crucible Knight Siluria. Defeat Siluria to obtain the weapon Siluria's Tree. Afterwards, step into the hollow Great Tree trunk behind where the knight stood and open the treasure chest to claim the Crucible Tree Set.

  4. 4

Ascending Across the Roots to the Prince of Death's Throne

As you approach the throne beneath Godwyn, you will trigger an encounter against five hostile phantom spirits known as Fia's Champions. Defeat all waves of spirits to earn Fia's Mist and 40,000 Runes.

  5. 5

Meeting Fia and Entering the Deathbed Dream

Locate Fia sitting on a stone bench directly beneath Godwyn's massive corpse at the Prince of Death's Throne. Once she falls asleep, interact with her to enter the Deathbed Dream and defeat the legend boss Lichdragon Fortissax to gain the Remembrance of the Lichdragon and 90,000 Runes.

    Key fight: Lichdragon Fortissax

Watch out: Attacking and killing Fia before entering her Deathbed Dream permanently forfeits the Lichdragon Fortissax battle and his Remembrance.

  6. 6

Concluding D's Quest and Returning to Leyndell

If you previously gave the Twinned Set to D, Beholder of Death in Siofra Aqueduct, he will appear beside Fia's body; you can then acquire the Inseparable Sword and re-loot the Twinned Armor Set from him.

Watch out: Failing to give the Twinned Armor to D's brother outside the Valiant Gargoyle arena prevents his appearance here and misses these final equipment drops.

Choices here

What you decide here and what it leads to.

Spare and embrace Fia or kill her

After defeating Fia's Champions at the Prince of Death's Throne

  • Forgive and hold Fia→ unlocks the Deathbed Dream to fight Lichdragon Fortissax and earn the Remembrance of the Lichdragon
  • Attack and kill Fia→ permanently locks you out of the Lichdragon Fortissax boss encounter and losing the Remembrance of the Lichdragon

Most players pick: Forgive and hold Fia

Slaying Fia is a point of no return that permanently locks out the Lichdragon Fortissax battle and its Remembrance.

Fate of D's brother at the Prince of Death's Throne

After defeating Lichdragon Fortissax when D's brother appears gloating over Fia's body

  • Kill D's brother immediately→ drops the Inseparable Sword and Twinned Armor Set
  • Leave him alive and reload/rest→ he departs or perishes, leaving behind the Inseparable Sword and the Twinned Armor Set to be collected

Only occurs if D's brother was given the Twinned Set earlier in Siofra Aqueduct.
