Caelid
Caelid is a scarlet-rot-blighted wasteland situated directly east of Limgrave, devastated by the battle between Malenia and General Radahn. Players navigate deadly swamps, break magical town seals, and traverse the Redmane Castle fortress to trigger the Radahn Festival. The primary objective is venturing to Redmane Castle to challenge Starscourge Radahn and claim his Great Rune.

Entry into Western and Northern Caelid
When you arrive by travelling east past the Smoldering Church or by getting ensnared in a teleport trap within Limgrave's Dragon-Burnt Ruins that deposits you into Sellia Crystal Tunnel, you can explore the western and northern borders. Journey down to Gael Tunnel to claim the Moonveil katana and a Dragon Heart from the Magma Wyrm, or tackle Minor Erdtree Catacombs for Mad Pumpkin Head Ashes from the Erdtree Burial Watchdog duo. Clear the Mad Pumpkin Head duo in the Caelem Ruins cellar for the Visage Shield, then speak with the Nomadic Merchant resting east of Astray from Caelid Highway North or travel up the northern canyon to find The Great-Jar outside the Caelid Colosseum.
Tip: Approach the Smoldering Church cautiously to defeat the invading NPC Anastasia, Tarnished-Eater when she appears.

Caelid Highway South and Surrounding Dungeons
Follow the smoldering roadway south where you can find the stone stele holding Map: Caelid along Caelid Highway South. Browse the wares of the Nomadic Merchant by the campfire near the road fork east of the Southern Aeonia Swamp Bank, and check out Gaol Cave and Caelid Catacombs to beat the Frenzied Duelist and Cemetery Shade. While traveling this southern highway, you will encounter Decaying Ekzykes patrolling the route, along with a Night's Cavalry and a Death Rite Bird roaming at night.
Key fight: Decaying EkzykesTip: Slaying Decaying Ekzykes rewards a Dragon Heart that unlocks Ekzykes's Decay at the Cathedral of Dragon Communion.

The Swamp of Aeonia
Traverse the rotting waters of the Swamp of Aeonia to discover the Street of Sages Ruins. Search the dilapidated ruin filled with poison flowers to loot the Meteorite Staff off a corpse hanging from a small window facing the swamp. Head directly into the heart of the swamp to challenge Commander O'Neil to collect the Commander's Standard and the Unalloyed Gold Needle.

Sellia and the Eastern Hills
Travel east of the swamp along the road south of Sellia to meet Sage Gowry inside Gowry's Shack, where he sells sorceries once you advance his questline. Enter Sellia, Town of Sorcery to defeat the Nox Swordstress and Nox Priest in the Chair-Crypt for the Nox Flowing Sword, conquer the Fallingstar Beast in Sellia Crystal Tunnel, and best the Putrid Crystalian trio inside Sellia Hideaway. Afterward, head up to the plateau resting east above the town to speak with Millicent inside the Church of the Plague.

Redmane Castle and the Radahn Festival
Travel to the far southeast of the region and cross the Impassable Greatbridge directly into Redmane Castle. In the courtyard plaza, meet Witch-Hunter Jerren as he directs the Radahn Festival before stepping through the gateway to the Wailing Dunes. Slay Starscourge Radahn upon the beach dunes to earn Radahn's Great Rune alongside the Remembrance of the Starscourge.
Key fight: Starscourge RadahnWatch out: Triggering the Radahn Festival temporarily locks out the pre-festival state of Redmane Castle and its plaza boss fight.

Reverting Redmane Castle
Following the victory over Starscourge Radahn, return to Redmane Castle and proceed to the church chapel room directly north of the festival plaza. Speak with Castellan Jerren until you exhaust his dialogue and he mentions his departure, then rest at a Site of Grace to reload the region. This restores standard enemies, locks various shortcut doors, and initiates the courtyard boss encounter against the Misbegotten Warrior and Crucible Knight, who drop the Ruins Greatsword.

Reverting Redmane Castle
After defeating Starscourge Radahn, when speaking to Castellan Jerren in the chapel behind Redmane Castle Plaza
- Exhaust Jerren's dialogue and rest at a Site of Grace→ Jerren announces his departure and leaves, the festival ends, regular enemies return, shortcut doors lock, and the Misbegotten Warrior & Crucible Knight boss fight spawns in the courtyard (yielding the Ruins Greatsword upon defeat)
- Do not exhaust Jerren's dialogue→ Redmane Castle stays cleared in its festival state, leaving the courtyard boss fight inaccessible until you do
Most players pick: Exhaust Jerren's dialogue and rest at a Site of Grace
The boss fight is temporarily blocked while the Radahn Festival is active, but defeating Radahn and talking to Jerren restores the castle so the fight and the Ruins Greatsword are not permanently missed.

- Riding Torrent makes you immune to Scarlet Rot while traveling over the surface of the rot swamp, but dismounting or being knocked off will instantly expose you to deep buildup.
