Crumbling Farum Azula
Crumbling Farum Azula is an ancient, storm-wracked mausoleum suspended in the sky that serves as a mandatory endgame legacy dungeon. Players must navigate crumbling architecture, beastmen, and ancient dragons to reach the heart of the storm. Defeating the final boss here unbinds Destined Death and fundamentally transforms Leyndell into the Ashen Capital.

The short version
What matters
- •Gathering high-tier upgrade materials, including the Somber Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone from the rooftop gazebo and Ancient Dragon Smithing Stones from Farum Azula Dragons.
- •Repelling the invading Recusant Bernahl along the northern walkway to obtain the Blasphemous Claw, and opening the tower chest for the Old Lord's Talisman.
- •Reaching the hidden eye of the storm below the cliffs by lying down in the ruin niche to face Dragonlord Placidusax for the Remembrance of the Dragonlord.
Common mistakes
- •Finishing Maliketh before completing your tasks in Leyndell, as victory triggers a cinematic that permanently converts the city into Leyndell, Ashen Capital.
- •Killing Iron Fist Alexander earlier in the journey, which permanently locks you out of obtaining the Shard of Alexander and Alexander's Innards from his duel in this area.

1
Awaken and Enter the Beast Grave
When you wake up on a shattered bridge after igniting the Erdtree at the Forge of the Giants in Mountaintops of the Giants, move forward to discover the Crumbling Beast Grave Site of Grace. Advance across an open, curved walkway to face your initial battle against a Greater Farum Azula Dragon, which drops an Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone upon defeat.
-
2
Traverse the Dragon Temple
Navigate the interior temple corridors until you arrive at the Dragon Temple Transept and step into the arena to battle the Godskin Duo. After overcoming the Apostle and Noble, activate the Dragon Temple Altar Site of Grace and collect your rewards: the Smithing-Stone Miner’s Bell Bearing [4] and Ash of War: Black Flame Tornado. Before moving forward, you can also search a corpse on a floating platform north of the Dragon Temple along the floating debris path to obtain an Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone.
-
3
Cross the Rooftops to the Great Bridge
Head across the floating pathways to discover the Dragon Temple Rooftop Site of Grace. Proceed across the exposed roofs while evading Bladed Talon Eagles and battling a Farum Azula Dragon that hurls red lightning, which drops an Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone upon defeat. Directly behind this dragon to the southeast, enter the gazebo to loot a corpse holding a Somber Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone, then continue onward until you reach the Beside the Great Bridge Site of Grace.
Tip: Defeat the red-lightning dragon or sprint past it straight into the gazebo to safely grab the Somber Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone.
-
4
Ambush on the Northern Walkway
From the Beside the Great Bridge Site of Grace, walk up the stairs, turn left away from the boss chamber, and advance down the long bridge path. Defeat the invading NPC Recusant Bernahl when he ambushes you on this walkway to receive the Blasphemous Claw, provided Rykard was previously defeated in Volcano Manor. Continue directly into the circular room inside the northern tower at the end of the path to open a chest holding the Old Lord’s Talisman.

5
Descent to the Eye of the Storm
Ride the lift from Beside the Great Bridge down into the temple structure and walk out the back doors toward the floating cliff edge. Look down over the rim and drop across floating stone ledges to reach a curved ruin foundation. Approach the open niche resting among the skeletons and select "Lie down" to watch a cinematic transporting you to the eye of the storm to fight Dragonlord Placidusax, who drops the Remembrance of the Dragonlord.

Ascend the Great Bridge to Maliketh

Slashing down Maliketh triggers a cinematic that permanently alters Leyndell into Leyndell, Ashen Capital.
