Ivarstead is a small settlement situated at the base of the Throat of the World, serving as the primary starting point for travelers ascending the Seven Thousand Steps to High Hrothgar. While visiting, the Dragonborn can speak with locals to resolve local problems like investigating the haunted Shroud Hearth Barrow or delivering supplies to the Greybeards. It also offers a warm place to rest and buy basic goods at the local inn before undertaking the long trek up the mountain.

- Watch out for a Frost Troll on the path up the Seven Thousand Steps, which is significantly deadlier than the wolves and bears encountered near the base.
