Dimhollow Crypt
Dimhollow Crypt is a subterranean ruin where the player is directed during the Dawnguard questline to investigate vampire activity. You must fight through hostile vampires, death hounds, and draugr to reach the central cavern. Solving the brazier puzzle at the center frees Serana from her ancient stone sarcophagus, initiating the main plot of the Dawnguard expansion.

Key fights
Enemies: Lokil (named vampire boss), one Vampire / Vampire Mistress thrall, and one Death Hound
Threats: Lokil casts high-damage Frostbite and Vampiric Drain, can turn invisible via Embrace of Shadows, wields leveled one-handed weapons, and regenerates health; the Death Hound slows the player with Frost damage bites; the thrall provides ranged magic support
Weaknesses and resistances: Lokil and the vampire are undead and vulnerable to Sun and Fire damage, but immune to paralysis and resist Frost (Lokil resists Frost by 85% as a Dunmer/Vampire); Death Hound is weak to Fire and immune to Frost
Tactics: Sneak around the central circular dais to initiate a sneak attack, or snipe the Death Hound first from the upper ring before engaging Lokil, using the stone pillars around the brazier puzzle as cover against his ranged frost spells
Rewards: Lokil's leveled loot (chance for enchanted gear), potions, gold, and access to the central puzzle that frees Serana and yields the Elder Scroll (Sun)
Enemies
Found patrolling throughout the crypt corridors and main chambers
Accompanies vampires and attacks aggressively in melee
Awakens from various burial niches throughout the tomb
Tips
- Push the braziers around the central circle until the purple flame streams ignite properly, which unlocks the central monolith holding Serana.
- Bring fire spells or fire-enchanted weapons, as most enemies in this dungeon are undead and take bonus damage from fire.
