Squall and his party arrive in the high-tech, sprawling city of Esthar after traversing the Great Salt Lake. The team visits the presidential palace to meet with Esthar's officials before setting out toward the Lunar Gate. Navigating the futuristic highway tubes and transport platforms allows access to several facilities and a dedicated shopping arcade.

Shops and people
- Cloud's Shop: Sells standard restorative items like Potions, Hi-Potions, and Phoenix Downs
- Karen's Shop: Sells status-recovery remedies and medicines
- Rinrin's General Store: Sells consumable items and pet supplies
- Don Juan's Shop: Sells standard junk parts and minor items
- Esthar Pet Shop: Sells companion and GF enhancement items, including Pet Amnesia Pills and scrolls
- Esthar Shop!!!: Sells rare items and power-up components if Tonberry's "Familiar" ability is active, though it is usually closed
Tips
- Rent a car at the rental station near the city exit to drive across the Esthar world map without triggering random monster encounters.
- Visit all shops in the Esthar shopping arcade at least once so that Call Shop (Tonberry ability) can access their inventories anywhere later.
