← All areas in this guide

After arriving via the Orphanage route, Claire navigates the subterranean waterways to reunite with Sherry and find an escape route to NEST. To unlock the lower facilities and progress, you must explore contaminated channels to collect three chess-shaped electronic plugs: the Queen, the King, and the Rook. Once the chess puzzle in the Monitor Room is solved, a confrontation with a mutated William Birkin ensues before operating the cable car.

Enemies

G-Adult
Weak to Large glowing eye exposed on its shoulder

Lurks in deep sewage water; can spawn poisonous G-Embryos and attempt lethal grab attacks.

Zombie
Weak to Head

Found in various service rooms and corridors; can reanimate unless decapitated or incinerated.

G Phase 2 (William Birkin)
Weak to Glowing eyes on his shoulder and back

Attacks through the ceiling of the burning generator room before dropping down; defeated using the crane-mounted cargo container.

Tips

  • Bring Blue Herbs into the Bottom Waterway, as G-Adults frequently poison you with their spitting and grapple attacks.
  • Equip a sub-weapon like a Flash Grenade or Combat Knife before traversing deep water so you can counter a G-Adult's grab and avoid immediate poisoning.
  • You can use the Sewer Key to unlock the Workers' Break Room, which conceals a hidden elevator cabinet leading all the way back up to the Underground Facility and Police Station.
  • Before calling the crane to strike G Phase 2, stagger him using heavy weapons so he remains locked in the container's impact zone.
