Resident Evil 2 guide · The holding cells where Ben is encountered

The Jail is located in the basement of the Raccoon Police Department and contains holding cells where Leon first encounters the reporter Ben Bertolucci. Leon must retrieve electronic parts to solve a cell-door circuit puzzle to reach Ben and obtain the Parking Garage Key Card. After unlocking the cell, the remaining holding cells open automatically, releasing numerous zombies while Mr. X pursues Leon toward the exit.

Several are locked in cells initially, but break free en masse once the electronic lock puzzle is solved

Weak to Temporary stagger from sustained fire to the head

Spawns to block your escape path down the main corridor after you leave Ben's cell

Tips

Pull the wall lever located near the exit to lift a secondary gate corridor, offering an alternate path to bypass the horde of released zombies and Mr. X.
Save a Flash Grenade or Frag Grenade specifically for the escape sequence after opening Ben's cell to disorient both the gathered zombie cluster and Mr. X at once.
