← All areas in this guide

Northern Cave is the final dungeon where the party descends deep into the Planet's core to stop Meteor and defeat Sephiroth. The party splits into two groups along branching paths to collect rare treasures before regrouping at the bottom. Once you descend past the point of no return into the core, you must defeat Jenova-SYNTHESIS and Sephiroth's multiple forms to complete the game.

Tips

  • Use the Save Crystal in the cavern right before the final drop-down point to create a permanent save location for grinding AP against Magic Pots and Movers.
  • Be extremely cautious when placing the Save Crystal, as using it in certain buggy screen locations can cause Cloud to become stuck or softlock the game.
  • Ensure you have the Enemy Skill Materia equipped when facing Dragon Zombie for the first time, as Pandora's Box is only cast once per playthrough.
  • Stock up on Elixirs via the W-Item duplication glitch or by stealing them so you can consistently feed Magic Pots for rapid Materia leveling.
