Cathedral of the Deep

DARK SOULS III guide · After passing through the Road of Sacrifices

The Cathedral of the Deep is a massive holy bastion overrun by corrupted clergy and sludge, which you enter after defeating the Crystal Sage in the Road of Sacrifices. You must navigate the perilous rooftops, unlock shortcuts back to the Cleansing Chapel bonfire, and descend to the cathedral floor to reach the altar. Defeating the Deacons of the Deep rewards you with the Small Doll, an essential item required to cross the barrier into Irithyll of the Boreal Valley.

Rosaria's Bed Chamber can be reached by climbing to the rafters of the cathedral, dropping down to a balcony on the outer wall, and passing through a gate where Rosaria waits to offer covenant allegiance.

A massive, multi-legged nightmare beast that inflicts curse buildup and ambushes you from the ceiling.

Deacon of the Deep

Weak to PhysicalSteal / drop Archdeacon set, Human Dregs

Spawns in large crowds, casting fireballs and swarming with candlesticks.

Shops and people

Unbreakable Patches: Sells the Catarina armor set, human pine resin, and various standard consumables after you resolve his encounter inside the cathedral.
Rosaria, Mother of Rebirth: Offers membership in Rosaria's Fingers, allows reallocation of character stats, and allows appearance changes in exchange for Pale Tongues.

Tips

Befriend the Giant of the Undead Settlement beforehand so his greatbow fire targets the enemies around the graveyard white birch rather than you.
Equip a torch in your off-hand to instantly burn off and clear the bleeding maggots clinging to your body.
During the Deacons of the Deep boss fight, only attack the deacon that glows with a red aura to deplete the shared boss health bar.
