The short version

What matters

  • •Sell off your extra Sepith on the Arseille before concluding the chapter, as its exchange rate drops significantly afterward.
  • •Swap your active roster before each apex fight (Kloe for Bleublanc, Zin for Walter, Scherazard for Luciola, Tita for Renne) to witness exclusive character-driven dialogue.
  • •Check computer terminals on the 4th and 5th layers of the Altered Space maps to retrieve ancient Data Crystals for Professor Russell.

Common mistakes

  • •Neglecting status resistance accessories in the boss battles; bring Confusion immunity against Bleublanc and both Sleep and Confusion protection against Luciola.
  • •Clustering party members together against Renne and Patel-Matel, which leaves your squad vulnerable to lethal area arts and shockwaves.
  • •Finishing Chapter 7 before purchasing Liberl News - Issue 9 from Ship's Cook Casey in the Arseille galley.

Walkthrough

The area in the order you play it. Tick things off as you go: they tick off in the checklists below too.

  1. 1

    Prepare Aboard the Arseille

When you reunite with Joshua and your companions aboard the Arseille, head to the second level galley to purchase supplies, visit Mechanic Payton for top-tier gear, and talk to your allies like Kevin, Agate, and the rest. Make sure to exchange any unwanted Sepith here rather than later. When you are fully prepped, make your way to the lower hold and speak with Faye to operate the elevator down to your first destination.

Tip: Mechanic Payton provides Slot Level 3 orbment modifications and top-end equipment.

Watch out: Be sure to buy Liberl News - Issue 9 from Ship's Cook Casey before finishing Chapter 7.

  2. 2

    Clear Lower Esmelas Tower

Step into Esmelas Tower's Altered Space, where you must navigate floating green crystalline platforms connected by teleporters and warp pads across the lower floors. Search the paths thoroughly on 1F through 3F to collect restorative items, armors, and new weaponry from the treasure chests. Keep your party leveled appropriately as you ascend toward the middle tiers.

Tip: Equip confusion-nullifying accessories before you climb higher into the spire.

  3. 3

Clear Upper Esmelas Tower & Bleublanc

Continue upward through 4F and 5F, checking all treasure chests on the crystalline paths and interacting with the lore terminals on Floor 4 to obtain the first set of ancient Data Crystals. Be sure to check encounters bundled with M-J Series Doom on Altered Space 5 for Shining Poms to farm late-game Sepith and levels. At the roof, confront Bleublanc alongside his Balancing Clowns, bringing Kloe along to trigger unique scene dialogue.

Key fight: Bleublanc & Balancing Clowns

Tip: Wipe out Bleublanc's Balancing Clowns immediately with wide-range Earth Arts, and unleash all-target S-Crafts like Joshua's Phantom Sever or Black Fang when he summons clones.

Watch out: Failing to inspect the computer terminals on the upper floors permanently misses the Data Crystals for Professor Russell.

  4. 4

Scale Carnelia Tower & Defeat Walter

Ride the Arseille toward Carnelia Tower and delve into its five Altered Space floors, which are dominated by red volcanic rock, warp crystals, and high-tier monster chests. Ascend to the apex with Zin in your front line to trigger personal story scenes regarding the Taisei style and Kilika. Face Enforcer VIII Walter by relying on defensive earth barriers and heavy speed control.

    Key fight: Walter

Tip: Keep Walter slowed with Clock Down, boost party speed with Clock Up EX, and protect everyone using Earth Wall or Gaia Shield while Zin tanks with True Distraction or True Taichi Formation.

  5. 5

Navigate Sapphirl Tower & Defeat Luciola

Travel to Sapphirl Tower to traverse its aquatic crystalline teleporter maze, looting any high-tier monster chests you uncover along the way. Place Scherazard into your party prior to ascending to the roof so you can experience her personal history with the circus and Harvey. At the summit, take on Luciola and her summons while resisting their heavy status effects.

    Key fight: Luciola

Tip: Equip protection against Sleep and Confusion, and immediately disrupt Luciola's art chanting using craft-canceling moves like Flicker or Hard Break.

  6. 6

    Conquer Amberl Tower & Renne

Enter the amber ruins maze of Amberl Tower, working your way through its teleporter network while gathering any remaining high-rank monster chests and terminal data. Bring Tita in your battle party before reaching the apex to see her confront Renne over their bonds. Engage Renne and the massive Patel-Matel atop the tower roof in a fierce final enforcer showdown.

    Key fight: Renne & Patel-Matel

Tip: Cast Earth Wall to block Patel-Matel's physical strikes, avoid clumping your party together, apply Clock Down to Renne, and burst her down first using single-target S-Breaks and high-level Arts.

  7. 7

    Return to the Arseille

Return to the patrol airship Arseille to deliver all collected Data Crystals to Professor Russell for decryption in the Capel system. Proceed through the subsequent plot debriefings, review the professor's analytical findings, and witness the direct communication received from Professor Weissmann as the chapter draws to a close.

Watch out: Turning in your findings and wrapping up the chapter without checking terminals or visiting the galley locks you out of the Data Crystals and newspaper.

Key fights

Bleublanc & Balancing Clowns

Enemies: Bleublanc, Balancing Clowns

Threats: Pommify/Bloat (halves STR/DEF, seals actions), Death Magic (S-Break inflicting Confuse and random ailments), Shadow Cast (spawns up to 6 clones)

Tactics: Equip Confusion resistance. Kill Balancing Clowns immediately with wide-range Earth Arts (Earth Lance / Titan Tremor). Unleash an all-target offensive S-Craft (like Joshua's Phantom Sever or Black Fang) when Shadow Cast is used to wipe out all clones at once.

Walter

Enemies: Walter

Threats: Colossal single-target and line physical damage, Critical hits, Knockback, AT Delay

Tactics: Maintain Earth Wall / Gaia Shield defensively. Keep speed high using Clock Up EX and debuff him with Clock Down. Use Zin with True Distraction or True Taichi Formation to tank him.

Luciola

Enemies: Luciola, support summons

Threats: High ATS Arts, Sleep, Confusion, deceptive clone duplicates

Tactics: Equip Anti-Sleep and Anti-Confusion protection. Use craft-canceling moves (Flicker, Hard Break) to interrupt art castings and eliminate support summons swiftly.

Renne & Patel-Matel

Enemies: Renne, Patel-Matel

Threats: Renne casts instant-kill Deathblow crafts and massive Space/Mirage arts (Calamity Cross, Blood Circle); Patel-Matel delivers field-wide shockwaves
