DRAGON QUEST VIII guide · visited to find Angelo in the tavern

Simpleton is a small, run-down settlement located south of Maella Abbey, primarily consisting of a church and the bustling Cock and Bull pub. Players visit the tavern to locate the Templar Knight Angelo after finding entry barred at Maella Abbey. Interacting with Angelo inside triggers a bar brawl cutscene that leads outside, where he hands over his Templar's ring to grant the party passage back at the abbey.

A Golden Slime for Cameron's Codex is tucked away out of reach behind the ground-floor bar counter of the pub, which can be photographed using the camera feature in the Nintendo 3DS version.

Church: Confession, Divination, Resurrection, and Purifying services

Tips

You do not need to purchase the Rapier from the upstairs merchant for Angelo, because he already comes equipped with one when he officially joins your active team.
