Black Omen

CHRONO TRIGGER® guide · Infiltrating the flying fortress

The party flies the Epoch into the floating sanctuary to confront Queen Zeal and bring an end to her reign. Players must fight through linear corridors filled with powerful monsters and bosses before facing the Mammon Machine and Zeal herself. Completing this fortress leads directly into the confrontation with Lavos.

You can complete the Black Omen three times in a single playthrough by entering it chronologically in reverse (first 1000 A.D., then 600 A.D., and finally 12,000 B.C.) to fight Queen Zeal repeatedly.

Mega Mutant

Steal / drop Vigil Hat (bottom), Elixir (top)

The introductory boss encountered right after infiltrating the entrance.

Wall panels that attack in groups and permanently disappear once defeated.

Tubster

A burly foe that counters party attacks and provides infinite consumable stat boosters via Charm.

Ruminator

Steal / drop MegaElixir

A respawning enemy on the descending path that serves as a limitless source of full restoration items.

Zeal

Steal / drop Prism Dress (torso), Prism Helm (right hand), MegaElixir (left hand)

The final form of the queen who must be defeated to reach the inner sanctum of Lavos.

Nu: Sells restorative consumable items such as various Tonics and Ethers

Tips

Keep Ayla in your party throughout the fortress because nearly every enemy and boss yields exceptional gear or stat tabs through her Charm tech.
