Taiga
Artyom is separated from the crew after his railcar derails and must navigate a lush, overgrown autumn valley inhabited by rival survivor factions and dangerous fauna. The primary objective is to make your way through the valley to reunite with Alyosha, locate the local dam, and secure an escape route. Survival heavily relies on stealth and adapting to primitive weapons, as your main firearms and equipment are stripped away at the start of the chapter.

Enemies
A massive mutant bear encountered twice in boss battles that must be fought or repelled.
Local survivor factions; sparing them and not killing any of them is required to earn Alyosha's good ending and the "Forest Child" achievement.
Hostile outlaws occupying camps and a factory; killing them does not negatively impact Alyosha's morality outcome.
Lurk in the dark catacombs beneath the church; shining your flashlight at them forces them to flip over and leaves their underbellies vulnerable.
Travel in packs through the woods and can be deterred or picked off using the crossbow.
Tips
- Do not harm any Pioneers or Pirates if you want to ensure Alyosha does not get wounded and stays with the crew for the good ending of the game.
- Craft explosive bolts for the Helsing crossbow as soon as the blueprint is unlocked, as they deal massive damage against the Master of the Forest.
- Retrieve your lost gear and backpack promptly at the beginning of the level to craft basic ammo and medical supplies.
- In the underground catacombs infested with spiders, keep your flashlight charged at all times to expose their weak points and drive them off without wasting ammo.
