Chapter 7: Those Left Behind

FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE INTERGRADE guide · Cloud and the team infiltrate the Mako Reactor 5 facility.

Cloud, Tifa, and Barret infiltrate Mako Reactor 5 to plant another bomb. While descending, the party sabotages the construction of Shinra's ultimate robotic weapon, the Airbuster, by collecting and using keycards. After setting the bomb and escaping to the catwalks, the party faces the customized Airbuster in a multi-phase boss fight.

Massive mechanical boss; parts can be weakened beforehand by disposing of M-Units, AI Cores, and Big Bomber shells.

Sweeper Prototype

Weak to Lightning

Armored bipedal mech; susceptible to Lightning spells which rapidly fill its stagger gauge.

Slug-Ray

Weak to Lightning

Flying drone enemy that attacks from range and can easily be pressured with Barret's basic attacks or Thunder.

Monodrive

Weak to Wind

Floating enemy protected by a barrier against physical attacks; weak to magic attacks.

Tips

Prioritize disposing of AI Programming Cores at terminal stations to slow down Airbuster's movement and disable its dangerous stun-laser attacks.
Equip all party members with Lightning Materia before reaching the reactor core, as nearly all mechanical enemies and the chapter boss are weak to electric damage.
When fighting Airbuster on the catwalk, assign Barret to attack when the boss detaches its hands or flies out of melee range for Cloud and Tifa.
