Chapter 13: A Broken World
In the aftermath of the Sector 7 plate collapse, Cloud, Tifa, and Barret search through the ruins for surviving friends and neighbours. After regrouping at Elmyra's house, the team travels back into the Sector 7 Slums and uncovers Shinra's Underground Test Site beneath the wreckage. Cloud, Tifa, and Barret must navigate the laboratory, overcome biological experiments, and defeat the Failed Experiment boss.

Small airborne mutant specimens that attack in groups and are easily pressured with Blizzard spells.
Amorphous failed test subjects that resist physical blows until staggered with magical attacks.
Boss encounter that commands swarms of Unknown Entities; focus down minions to create openings against the main body.
Shops and people
- Evergreen Park Item Shop: Sells standard restorative items, Phoenix Downs, and Music Disc 15: On Our Way.
- Vending Machine (Underground Test Site B1): Sells potions, ethers, and basic battle sundries right next to a rest bench before descending deeper.
Tips
- Equip Barret with Fire and Ice elemental attack spells, as his ranged abilities can easily detonate environmental containers and exploit mutant enemy weaknesses from a safe distance.
- During the Failed Experiment boss fight, defeat the smaller Unknown Entities quickly, as their deaths directly build the boss's stagger gauge.
