Surgate Castle is the fortress of King Xezat Matias Surgate, which the party visits during World 2 and can revisit in the merged World 3. While exploring the stronghold, the party meets King Xezat's subjects, learns the Bard song Swift Song in his private quarters, and solves a book-sorting task in the library to open hidden paths leading to rare magic and treasure.

In the library puzzle room, interact with the three misplaced books on the tables and place them on their proper alphabetical shelves—"Forbidden Book" on shelf D–F, "Register of Monsters" on shelf R–S, and "Weird Ronka" on shelf W–X—then speak with the head librarian to reveal a hidden passage leading down into the treasury corridors.

Tips

Be sure to acquire the Time Magic spell Float here before progressing deeper into World 2 dungeons, as casting Float keeps your party safe from damage floors (such as lava) and entirely negates Earth-elemental attacks like Quake.
