Old North Church

Fallout 4 guide · finding the Railroad headquarters

The Old North Church serves as the end point of the "Road to Freedom" quest, leading to the secret headquarters of the Railroad faction. You must navigate the ruined, ghoul-infested interior and catacombs to reach the Freedom Trail Ring puzzle on the wall. Entering the correct password into the dial opens an escape tunnel door that grants access to the Railroad's base.

Secret Railroad Door: Rotate the Freedom Trail ring alternately clockwise and counter-clockwise to spell "RAILROAD", pressing the center button after each letter to unlock the hidden entrance.

Radiates passive radiation damage and can revive fallen ghouls with an area-of-effect burst.

Tips

Bring a weapon with decent close-quarters stopping power, such as a combat shotgun, as the catacomb tunnels are narrow and tight.
You do not need to follow the entire physical Freedom Trail path across Boston to enter; you can travel straight to Old North Church and input the puzzle code directly.
