The Hold

Divinity: Original Sin 2 - Definitive Edition guide · Prologue on the ship
← All areas in this guide

You awaken as a Source-collared prisoner aboard a Magister galley headed toward the prison colony of Fort Joy. After investigating a murder on the lower deck and reaching the main deck, an attack by a giant Voidwoken capsizes the vessel, forcing you to fight or flee toward the lifeboat. Your primary goals are to gather basic starter equipment, interact with future companions, and decide whether to save the other origins before escaping.

Tips

  • Talk to every origin character on the ship; while they won't join your party here, your interactions set up their initial attitudes toward you on the island.
  • You can use a Bedroll outside of combat at any time to instantly heal your entire party to full vitality and restore status effects.
  • Returning below deck to help the other origin characters during the ship's destruction rewards bonus experience and alters initial dialogue upon washing ashore.
  • Pick up heavy objects like barrels and ornate chests to hold onto valuable crafting materials or use them for blocking enemy pathfinding early on.
