The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess guide · First visit to the capital

During Link's first visit to Hyrule Castle Town as a wolf, the settlement is engulfed in the Twilight realm and populated by spirits who cannot see him. You must navigate the town while avoiding Twilight keese and Shadow Beasts, eavesdrop on the townsfolk, and follow the scent of Ilia. Reaching Telma's Bar allows you to track the scent through the sewers to safely infiltrate Hyrule Castle and meet Princess Zelda.

Digging under the wooden crates in the alleyway behind Telma's Bar reveals an entrance leading directly into the town sewers.

Enemies

Shadow Beast

Weak to Defeating the final two or three simultaneously

Groups appear in Castle Town Square; kill the last remaining beasts at the same time using Midna's dark energy field to prevent them from reviving.

Shadow Keese

Weak to Direct attacks

Flying Twilight bat variants that patrol the streets and can be swatted out of the air.

Tips

Press the sense button frequently to listen to the glowing green spirits of the townsfolk, which provides hints and reveals Ilia's scent trail.
When confronting the Shadow Beasts in the central square, eliminate all but two or three, then use Midna's charge attack circle to destroy the rest at once.
