Dragon Roost Cavern is the first dungeon in the game, situated inside the volcano on Dragon Roost Island. Link enters the cavern to find out what is tormenting the Sky Spirit Valoo and causing him to lash his tail. Inside, you must navigate lava pits, burn wooden barricades, and climb to the summit to defeat the boss.

Splatters into gelatin when struck and can drop jelly used to brew health potions.

Keese

Flying bat-like creature that flies toward you; if it passes through a torch, it catches fire.

Boko Baba

Steal / drop Boko Baba Seed

Carnivorous plant rooted in place; cutting its stem leaves behind a Boko Stick you can pick up.

Bokoblin

Steal / drop Joy Pendant

Goblin-like warrior wielding a machete or club; can drop Joy Pendants or have them stolen with the Grappling Hook.

Kargaroc

Steal / drop Golden Feather

Large bird that nests in high spots; dropping them can yield Golden Feathers.

Magtail

Weak to Water

Armored centipede-like monster that curls into a ball when hit or sprayed with water; its curled form can be placed onto switches.

Moblin

Steal / drop Skull Necklace

Tall spear-wielding guard fought as the mini-boss in the upper cavern.

Gohma

Weak to Valoo's tail / Grappling Hook

Dungeon boss; pull Valoo's dangling tail using the Grappling Hook to drop the ceiling onto its armored shell.

Tips

You can light a Boko Stick on fire at any torch and carry it to burn down wooden barricades or ignite unlit sconces.
If you leave a room or restart, lit Boko Sticks cannot be carried across loading zones, so look for a local fire source nearby.
Use the Grappling Hook on enemies to steal valuable spoil items, such as Joy Pendants from Bokoblins and Golden Feathers from Kargarocs.
