The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask guide · After entering the Southern Swamp

The Deku Palace is the royal seat of the Deku Kingdom, currently in an uproar over the disappearance of the Deku Princess. Link must infiltrate the palace grounds to reach the royal chamber and the inner courtyard where an innocent monkey is held captive. By sneaking past the Deku Guards, Link can learn the Sonata of Awakening from the imprisoned monkey to gain access to the Woodfall Temple.

Mad Scrub

Hides in the ground and shoots Deku Nuts at Link; pops out when approached

Deku King: Presides over the royal chamber; decrees the execution of the captured monkey
Bean Seller: Sells Magic Beans for 10 Rupees in an underground grotto accessed from the palace gardens

Tips

Wear the Deku Mask to freely enter the throne room to speak with the Deku King, but take care to avoid guards in the outdoor garden mazes where entry is strictly forbidden.
You can use the Deku Mask's spin move to quickly dash across water lily pads and avoid sinking into the swamp water.
Stay on elevated hedges or wait for guards to turn their backs to navigate the garden mazes undetected.
