Guides / The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
Skull Woods
Skull Woods is the third dungeon of the Dark World, unique for having multiple interconnected entrances scattered throughout an outdoor forest area. Link must explore several underground segments, manipulate switches, and burn open the final rib cage entrance using the Fire Rod to reach the boss. Defeating Mothula inside the final section rewards Link with the third Crystal.

Enemies
Large hands that drop from the ceiling to grab Link and send him back to the dungeon entrance.
Bandaged mummy enemies with high health that burn away quickly when hit with fire.
Jellyfish-like enemies that split into two smaller Biries when struck by basic sword slashes.
Armored bugs that bounce Link backward upon impact; easiest to defeat by knocking them into pits.
The dungeon boss that flies across a room with moving spike traps and conveyor belt floors while shooting ring beams.
Tips
- Keep moving constantly in rooms where shadows appear on the floor to prevent Wallmasters from grabbing you.
- The Fire Rod is the most effective weapon against Mothula, but manage your Magic Meter carefully with Green Potions so you do not run out.
- You must use the Fire Rod to burn the skeletal head blocking the final underground entrance in the northern outdoor forest.
