← All areas in this guide

Misery Mire is the sixth dungeon of the Dark World, located beneath the storm clouds of the Mire of Misery swamp. Link must traverse flooded basement rooms, light torches in dark corridors, and manipulate crystal switches to navigate deeper into the complex. Conquering the dungeon requires defeating Vitreous to rescue the sixth maiden.

Enemies

Vitreous
Weak to Bow and Arrows, Master Sword

Boss composed of a giant eyeball surrounded by smaller eyes; defeat the small eyes first before it hops around.

Wizzrobe
Weak to Sword, Bow

Teleports around the room and fires magic beams at Link before vanishing.

Slime
Weak to Sword

Small gelatinous enemies that drop from the ceiling in dark rooms.

Red Bari
Weak to Sword, Boomerang

Electrifies itself periodically; striking it with a sword while charged damages Link and splits it into smaller Biri.

Wallmaster
Weak to Sword

Large hands that drop from the ceiling; if they grab Link, they pull him back to the dungeon entrance.

Popo
Weak to Sword

Small, hairy creature that scuttles around in groups; easily dispatched with standard weapon swings.

Tips

  • The Cane of Somaria is required to complete later dungeons, such as Turtle Rock and Ganon's Tower, so do not leave without collecting it.
  • Keep the Magic Meter filled with Green Potions, as you will need the Fire Rod to light unlit torches in dark rooms to open sealed doors.
  • Watch the shadows on the floor to avoid being ambushed and captured by falling Wallmasters.
  • During the boss fight with Vitreous, equip the Hookshot or standard sword to safely pull or slash away the smaller eyeballs while avoiding lightning strikes.
