Mass Effect 1 (Legendary Edition) guide · During Ilos mission

Shepard and the squad arrive on the mysterious Prothean world of Ilos to pursue Saren Arterius before he can use the Conduit. You must fight through heavy Geth resistance on foot across the Courtyard and Upper Ruins to access the security controls. Deactivating the security lockdown opens the blast doors below, allowing you to return to the Mako and proceed deeper into the planet.

Weak to Anti-synthetic tech powers and high-explosive ammo

Heavily armored quadruped walker that fires a devastating charged plasma blast.

Geth Prime

Weak to Tech sabotage, dampening, and high-damage biotic or combat abilities

Massive frontline combat unit equipped with heavy shields and pulse rifles.

Geth Shock Trooper

Weak to Overload and Shield Disruption

Fast aggressive synthetic unit that frequently uses shields and Carnage attacks.

Geth Sniper

Weak to Tech vulnerability and biotics to pull out of cover

Sets up high-damage laser-targeted shots from elevated ledges in the ruins.

Geth Ghost

Weak to Biotic crowd control and Tech abilities

Stealth unit that relies on cloaking to ambush the squad at close range.

Tips

You cannot return to the Normandy or any previous planets once you land on Ilos, so ensure your squad equipment is finalized before landing.
Use Damping or Sabotage on the Geth Armatures early in the engagement to prevent them from firing their siege cannons.
Take advantage of the heavy stone pillars and broken Prothean architecture for cover against the elevated snipers.
