Central Yharnam

Bloodborne guide · After leaving the clinic
← All areas in this guide

Central Yharnam is the first sprawling labyrinthine area of the game where you navigate plague-ridden streets to unlock vital shortcuts back to the central lantern. You must fight past hostile mobs, beast-men, and large brutes to reach the Great Bridge or the aqueducts. The area ultimately leads to the game's first two potential boss encounters: the optional Cleric Beast and the mandatory Father Gascoigne.

Shops and people

  • Gilbert: Gives advice and later the Flamesprayer after obtaining the Oedon Tomb Key
  • Young Yharnam Girl: Gives the Tiny Music Box to help defeat Father Gascoigne

Tips

  • Throw a pebble to lure enemies away one by one from large groups, especially around the burning beast effigy.
  • Play the Tiny Music Box against Father Gascoigne up to three times to stun him temporarily during the fight.
  • Rolling through barrels or coffins clears a path silently and can reveal hidden descents without consuming weapon durability.
  • The two Scourge Beasts on the Great Bridge cannot fit through the door of the dark house, making them easy to kill from the doorway with thrust attacks.
