The Mists

The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings Enhanced Edition guide · The cursed battlefield between Vergen and the Kaedweni camp
← All areas in this guide

The Mists is a supernatural, cursed battlefield separating the Kaedweni camp from Vergen, choked by spectral fog and trapped in an endless loop of an ancient battle. Geralt must cross this haunted expanse during Chapter II, initially aided by protective magic to prevent being overwhelmed by infinite wraiths. To lift the curse permanently, Geralt must gather four symbolic artifacts—courage, faith, hate, and death—and relive the historic battle through possessed spectral commanders.

Tips

  • Do not stray outside the protective barrier generated by your companion (Philippa Eilhart or Dethmold) during the first crossings, as the mist spawns relentless swarms of wraiths that will quickly kill you.
  • When fighting the Draug, take cover behind barricades and shipwrecks when it calls down trebuchet fire, and roll continuously to evade its flaming vortex phase.
  • Applying Specter Oil to your silver sword provides a substantial damage boost against the Draug, Draugir, and standard battlefield wraiths.
