The Stranger is a massive, cloaked artificial ring-world hidden in the solar system, populated by the remains of an owl-like alien species. Inside, you must navigate its river, investigate its abandoned settlements, and project light onto mechanisms to unlock the secrets of their past. By utilizing special green-flame lanterns, you can sleep at campfires to transition into a dark dream simulation that reveals how to free the Prisoner.

Weak to Concealing your artifact's light or shining a focused beam into their eyes temporarily

Patrols the dark simulation world; catching you results in your lantern being blown out, waking you up.

Tips

You can navigate the ring-world's river quickly by stepping onto the wooden rafts and shining your flashlight onto their forward and reverse light sensors.
The dam at the Reservoir breaks roughly halfway through the time loop, flooding downstream settlements and extinguishing the green fire in the River Lowlands shrine.
If you place your artifact on the floor inside the simulation and walk away from it, you can view the digital matrix of the world to scout paths and bypass obstacles.
Dying inside the Stranger's real-world green-flame shrines (such as by campfires) allows you to enter the simulation permanently immune to the Pursuers' bells.
