Derelict Reaper

Mass Effect 2 (Legendary Edition) guide · After recruiting the core team
← All areas in this guide

Shepard and the squad board a massive deactivated Reaper orbiting a brown dwarf to retrieve an IFF device for the Omega-4 Relay. The ship is infested with Husks and Scions created from an indoctrinated Cerberus research team. Progress through the decaying corridors, defend against waves of synthetic horrors, and destroy the Reaper's mass effect core to escape with the IFF and a disabled Geth.

Enemies

Husk
Weak to Fire, area-of-effect abilities, armor-piercing damage

Swarms in massive melee packs; dies instantly if stripped of armor and knocked off their feet or frozen.

Abomination
Weak to Fire, long-range fire

A glowing red variant of the Husk that explodes upon death, damaging nearby allies and enemies.

Scion
Weak to Heavy weapons, Warp, Incinerate

Fires a shockwave that pierces through cover; deals massive physical damage and possesses heavy armor.

Reaper Core
Weak to Overload, sustained high-damage weapons

The mission's final objective; vulnerable only when its outer blast shutters open periodically.

Tips

  • Equipping squadmates with area-of-effect crowd-control powers like Throw Field, Shockwave, or Incineration Blast makes surviving Husk rushes significantly easier.
  • Do not let Husks close the distance on higher difficulties, as their melee strikes can rapidly stun-lock Shepard outside of cover.
  • Shoot Abominations while they are still surrounded by other Husks to use their death explosions to clear out the swarm.
  • Acquiring the Reaper IFF immediately starts a hidden countdown to the endgame abduction event, so complete all outstanding squad loyalty missions before starting this mission if you want to save the entire Normandy crew.
  • During the final Reaper Core fight, Husks spawn infinitely while the core's shields are closed, so focus on survival until the core exposes itself for heavy burst damage.
  • Bring heavy weapons like the Arc Projector or M-920 Cain to quickly vaporize Scion pairs and severely damage the exposed core.
