Mass Effect 2 (Legendary Edition) guide · First recruitment mission

Commander Shepard travels to the human colony Freedom's Progress to investigate the mysterious disappearance of its entire population. Accompanied by Miranda and Jacob, Shepard fights through rogue security mechs, crosses paths with former squadmate Tali, and interrogates a traumatized Quarian survivor named Veetor. The mission concludes with the discovery that an enigmatic alien race known as the Collectors is abducting human colonies.

Heavy assault boss mech equipped with heavy shields, armor, and a rocket launcher; causes a massive explosion upon destruction

Tips

Focus fire on the YMIR Mech's shields and armor from long range behind high cover, as its minigun and rockets can shred Shepard's defenses in seconds on higher difficulties.
Shoot the heads off LOKI Mechs to trigger an overload explosion that damages adjacent enemies.
Your choice to either hand Veetor over to Cerberus or allow Tali to take him back to the Flotilla impacts your standing with Tali and dialogue later in the game.
