Investigations Sector

CONTROL Ultimate Edition guide · Enter the Investigations sector to track the Former

The Investigations Sector is introduced in the AWE expansion as a long-abandoned division of the Oldest House overrun by the Hiss and Darkness. Jesse Faden explores this sector to investigate Altered World Events, purge pockets of Darkness with mobile light sources, and track the multi-eyed entity known as the Former. Navigating the region requires utilizing power cores, floodlights, and the Surge weapon form to clear blocked paths and face recurring encounters with the monstrous creature Emil Hartman.

Enemies

Airborne Ranger

Weak to Shield, rapid-fire weapons

Highly agile flying Hiss soldier that evades attacks and fires weapons from the air.

Hiss Sniper

Weak to Launch, aggressive gap-closing

Tracks Jesse with a visible targeting laser and deals massive burst damage if shots are not dodged.

Hartman

Weak to Light sources, Surge

The monstrous primary antagonist of the sector; invincible while shrouded in Darkness and constantly drains Jesse's energy when nearby lights lose power.

Tips

Carry portable floodlights or power cores with Launch to instantly burn away clumps of Darkness blocking doorways and switches.
While fighting in areas where Hartman cuts the power, prioritize sprinting to power sockets to reconnect cores and re-illuminate the room to make him vulnerable.
