You venture into this dark, murky wetland during the Dragon Slayer questline to track down Cathan and inspect the ancient blue-flame vault known as Vertentis Kara. Inside the dungeon, you navigate floor traps, battle constructs and vermin, locate three Vault Cores, and meet the goblin Spitfoot to trigger a lever unlocking a shortcut out. Completing your exploration and conferring with the Wise Old Man allows you to unlock dragon-protection equipment and continue Cathan's trail onward to Ghornfell.

Rat King

Enemies: Rat King and two Giant Rats

Threats: Immediate aggression on sight, high melee physical damage lunges, and adds pressuring player space

Weaknesses and resistances: Weak to Stab damage; resistant to Crush damage

Tactics: Pull back toward the entrance threshold or chokepoint doorway to funnel the Giant Rats first, equip a shield with a one-handed stab weapon (such as a dagger or sword) to block incoming melee attacks, and engage at close quarters without getting cornered

Rewards: Third Vault Core, Tier 2+ Vault Chest loot, Raw Rat Meat, Coarse Animal Fur, Animal Hide Scraps, and Small Animal Fangs

Vault Guardian

Found guarding chambers throughout the vault; parrying their attacks is effective against larger variants.

Vault Guardian Hulk

A heavy variant encountered deeper inside the Dragonkin Vault.

Vault Guardian Sentinel

Triple construct encounter stationed before the staircase leading toward Spitfoot.

Giant Rat

Lurks in the initial entry paths and near Vault Core chambers; readily beaten with melee weapons and shields.

Shops and people

Spitfoot: An NPC encountered near the top level of the vault who provides dialogue advancing the Dragon Slayer quest line.

Tips

Watch the floor traps carefully, as they emit an intensifying glow immediately before triggering.
