Gordon Freeman arrives at the Black Mesa East resistance facility, reuniting briefly with Eli Vance and Dr. Judith Mossman before meeting Alyx Vance. Alyx introduces Gordon to the Zero Point Energy Field Manipulator (Gravity Gun) in the scrapyard and teaches him how to use it alongside her pet robot, Dog. The training is cut short when Combine forces launch an assault on the base, forcing Gordon to flee toward Ravenholm.
