Gordon Freeman arrives at Dr. Isaac Kleiner's hidden laboratory after being rescued by Alyx Vance. He acquires the HEV Suit and prepares for a teleportation experiment to Eli Vance's lab, Black Mesa East. After the teleportation malfunctions due to Kleiner's pet headcrab, Gordon must escape the lab into the city canals while pursued by Combine forces.

The "Submissive" achievement can be missed if you do not pick up the empty soda can outside Dr. Kleiner's lab entrance and throw it at the patrolling Combine civil protection officer instead of placing it in the trash can.The "Defiant" achievement can be missed if you put the soda can into the trash bin as instructed instead of throwing it at the Combine civil protection officer.

Tips

You can interact with the mini-teleporter on the desk in Kleiner's lab to send small objects, such as a potted cactus, across the room.
Don't rush out of the lab immediately; listen to the dialogue between Kleiner, Eli, and Barney to absorb crucial story background and world-building.
Once you drop down into the train yard outside the lab, rely on sprinting to evade the gunfire from Civil Protection officers above until you find cover.
